KEILAH JOHNSON

“…Ravage of Rita and Katrina….”

Keliah Johnson was born and raised in South Louisiana and is proud of her heritage; even the slang words, (Coon***, lol), used to describe people from there. She and her family moved to Longview in September of 2005 to escape the ravage caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This was an emotional time for her, and she decided she would dive into sports to keep her mind occupied. She ran track and played volleyball throughout Junior High and High School. With this mindset she went on to play city league soccer while in High School. She graduated from Longview Christian School in 2012.

“…We share five humans…”

In 2018, she and her husband Matthew, moved to Gilmer, where they were married on July 29th, 2019. Together, in her words,” We share five humans, ranging from ages 3-12.” They have 3 boys and 2 girls, along with a Mastador named Oakley, and an Aussie named Rip. Which she states are like their children too.

“…Kids Ministry Program at NBBC…”

Keliah has traveled to several locations spreading the word. She has gone on mission trips to Galveston, China, and Haiti. Keilah has a strong faith and is very active with her church family. She is constantly “on mission”. Keliah and her family are members of New Beginnings Baptist Church. She speaks highly of the Kids Ministry program and the “Word” they receive from their pastors.

“…Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, bro, bruh…”

Keilah states that people tend to ask her what she does for work. She responds to them that her husband works in the oil field and is gone at least 15 days a month. So, she wears a lot of hats in the household, from being a full-time college student, mom, wife, granddaughter, daughter, sister, chauffeur, chef and a housekeeper.

“…she knew when she turned 29…”

Keilah describes her lifelong dream since age 9 was to become an ER nurse. She knew when she turned 29, she had to pursue that dream, except now she’s leaning towards Labor and Delivery or Forensics. She will be taking her TEAS nursing entry exam in the Spring of 2024 at Kilgore College. Keilah expresses how much God has blessed her and her family and knows that He has saved her from herself more times than she can count and know 100% that she would not be where she’s at today with Him. She is looking forward to blessing others in her future field of work.

On a side note, Keilah wanted to share that her family loves to hunt, fish, vacation, camp, be outdoors, play sports, and most importantly, EAT! 😊
